Day 1: Travels to Africa

We are in the airport awaiting the long flight (14 hours) to Ethiopia. As we embark further from Wisconsin and closer to the equator, we are so thrilled to be on this journey! This journey is way bigger than I have anticipated. Everyone involved in meeting and helping us plan this trip has been a gift. Believe me, neither John nor I could have planned this trip like it is down to the tee!
It reminds me of the actors and actresses as they win Best Kiss at the Grammy’s. Most actors and actresses will start off with thanking all the people in their lives who helped them get to where they are. That is what it is like to be where we are now.
So, here is our little thank you speech: Only God could do this. God has been so good to us, and God is way bigger than I could ever imagine. Thank you Anne Kierce for introducing us to Carol and Allen the minute you heard about our travels to Kenya. Carol and Allen – for inviting us into your home for a lovely dinner, sharing your stories, and connecting us to those who have traveled in or live in Kenya. A big thank you to Jane and Ken for allowing us to stay at the Beacon of Hope Centre in Kenya! Linda and Kortney – thank you for helping us prepare well for this experience.

The wee hours of the morning really could not hold back our excitement. Although, we did crash for about an hour on the bus ride to Chicago. We truly look forward to sharing our trip with you all!!! This journey is way bigger than I have anticipated. Everyone involved in meeting and helping us plan this trip has been a gift. Believe us, neither John nor I could have planned this on our own!!
